Website Sues Google Over Rankings

"Google Inc.'s mysterious methods for ranking Web sites came under attack Friday in a lawsuit accusing the online search engine leader of ruining scores of Internet businesses that have been wrongfully banished from its index.

The civil complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in San Jose by KinderStart.com, seeks to be certified as a class action representing the owners of all Web sites blacklisted by Google's Internet-leading search engine since January 2001.

KinderStart, a Norwalk-based Web site devoted to information about children, says it was dropped from Google's index a year ago without warning.

KinderStart alleges Google has engaged in anticompetitive behavior and misled the public by positioning its search engine as an objective source for finding Internet content. The suit seeks unspecified financial damages and a court order that would require Google to change its ways."

Google is planning a massive online storage facility

Google is preparing to offer online storage to Web users, creating a mirror image of data stored on consumer hard drives, according to company documents that were mistakenly released on the Web.

I just can't wait to let Gbot scan all my private information and files and share it with the world by mistake...

Google Video on your site

Now you can easily embed any Google Video on your own site by simply adding the code that is automatically generated for each video story they offer. You can also quite easily upload your own video content to Google and with the embed code let Google take care of the bandwidth charges.

Below an example (and remember not to tease old people)

Move over Google Earth

Think satellite and birds-eye imagery was cool? Wait until you see streetlevel! Seattle alone is 10 million images.

One of the most interesting features is to put you in ‘Street’ view map style. In this mode, all of the street-side images are pasted flat on the map to give you a very unique overview of an area. It takes some getting used to, but once you adjust to it you’ll find it provides a very compelling companion view for our Hybrid maps. Street view helps you orient yourself quickly in an area, while the street side views then show more detail presented as you would see it in the real-world.
